Bypassing the actual possibility that someone could prove alternate realities, you could very easily argue that, if someone finds such a reality, it was either created at that instant or it was there all along, but undetectable till then. But the idea is to never put yourself, the observer, in a privileged position, meaning why wouldn't it have existed before you looking at it? Are you, the observer, special in some what that you observing the alternate reality is the same as creating it? When you're no longer observing it, it disappears? Where, how, why? See what can of worms you open up if you make the act of observing a creation act, so to speak? I generally have tooth against any multiple realities/universes theory (including many words interpretations of QM), but that's just me.
